Our drift-boat trip is the signature experience and the trip we recommend if you’ve never fished with us before. You’ll launch in the morning, push off from a Toccoa River ramp, and float 6–10 miles of water downstream with your guide on the oars and the river moving under you. Between miles you’ll swing to holding lies, cast dry-dropper or indicator rigs, and cover more productive water than a wader could hit in a week.
Drift trips run year-round on the Lower Toccoa tailwater and are strong October through May. No drift-boat experience is needed. Our boats fit two anglers plus a guide, or we can run solo trips for one-on-one coaching.
If you prefer to feel the current on your legs, we run guided wade trips across the same river systems. We’ll meet at a pre-agreed access point, walk in together, and spend the day fishing a single run or a series of them on foot. Wade trips are our most instruction-heavy trip, the guide can see your form, fix it in real time, and work with you on mending, getting a good drift, and presentation in ways a drift trip doesn’t allow.
We run wade trips year-round, but they’re especially good during the warmer months when water levels drop and the fish are tuned in to dry flies and terrestrials.
Private water is our premium offering and the right call if you want the best shot at a wall-hanger trout without sharing the river with anyone else. We have access to private North Georgia trophy stretches that are lightly fished, heavily stocked with large rainbows and browns, and set up with deep pools and structure that hold fish year-round.
These waters fish well when the public tailwaters are blown out or crowded which is when private water becomes the better trip. Smaller groups, bigger fish, and the kind of scenery you can’t find anywhere else.
We host small-group corporate and private group days for teams, bachelor parties, and family reunions. We can run multiple boats with matched guides, coordinated launches, and an optional catered lunch on the riverbank. It’s one of the most memorable offsites you can book and unlike a golf outing, nobody needs prior skill to have a great day.
We urge guests to contact us at least 4 to 6 weeks ahead for group trips. We’ll walk through options, build the day around your group’s goals, and quote you a custom rate.
For most anglers yes, especially first-timers, traveling anglers, and anyone fishing unfamiliar water. A guide compresses what would take lots of trial and error into a single day: water reading, fly selection, casting mechanics, and access to ramps and beats you’d never find on your own. The honest answer is that if you’re a local who’s already dialed on the river you want to fish, you probably don’t need us. For everyone else, a guided day is the difference between fishing hard and catching fish.
Yes. You’ll need a current Tennessee or Georgia fishing license plus a trout stamp, depending on which water we’re on. Licenses are $20 to $30 and available online through TWRA or Georgia DNR. Licenses are not included in the trip price. We’ll tell you exactly which one to get when we confirm your trip.
Yes. Roughly half of our clients every season are brand-new to fly fishing. Drift-boat trips and half-day wade trips are our most beginner-friendly formats. The guide handles rigging, knots, and fly selection so you can focus on casting and catching. If you want a low-pressure intro day before booking a full trip, look at our fly fishing lessons.
We fish in rain. Some of our best days are rainy. We will reschedule for lightning, dangerously high water, or unsafe cold. If we cancel for safety, you can rebook or get a full refund. Weather calls are made the morning of the trip if conditions are borderline.
Yes, but you don’t need to. If you’d rather fish your own rod, tell us what you’re bringing and we’ll make sure the line weight and leader setup are right for the water we’re floating. If you have waders and boots that fit, bring them. We have loaners at no charge if you don’t.
